Steve Leonard – Collaring The Dogs . . .

I finally got my hands on a Painted Dog today as it lay snoozing on the ground. Not a natural sleep I should add but a chemically induced one as we had darted it to allow us to take biological samples and fit the dog with a radio collar. Thanks to Jealous, PDC's expert dog tracker, we were able to find the pack of four dogs that we had to fit collars to.       With only approximately 80-100 painted dogs left in the 14,000 square kilometres of Hwange National Park, Painted Dog Conservation is working hard to help the dogs that live around the fringes of the park escape the man-made dangers that they are so prone to. Tusk Trust Polorock at Hurtwood Park, 21st July 2012

POLOROCKS POLOROCKS CANCELLED: Due to the current adverse weather conditions, the local council has regretfully taken the decision to cancel this year’s PoloRocks. PDC UK is delighted to be attending the PoloRocks event in aid of Tusk Trust and will be hosting a stall selling unique snare wire wildlife sculptures from Painted Dog Conservation’s Iganyana Arts Centre. Where – Hurtwood Park, Ewhurst, Surrey Hurtwood Park Polo Club has forged the perfect summer partnership with Tusk to bring together an exciting fusion of music and polo with a High Goal Polo Match followed by a rock concert in the evening – featuring Mike and The Mechanics with support from James Walsh and Sharon Corr. Hurtwood’s owner, Kenney Jones, the legendary drummer of ‘The Faces’ and ‘The Who’, will host the event on Saturday 21st July.
